Sneak Peek: Custom Personalization Feature
We are in the final stages of development for an exciting new feature called ‘Custom Personalization’. This feature will allow InkSoft users to create and sell ‘pre-decorated’ products online more effectively. A pre-decorated product is a printed product that cannot be customized by the shopper. This is useful when your selling opportunity calls for selling printed goods with official designs on approved and controlled products.
This feature will allow for creating pre-decorated products that can have custom personalization options. For example, using the summer camp t-shirt below, when the feature is activated shoppers will be prompted to add the required or optional personalization fields. This feature is perfect for selling products that require individual personalization for each order and is perfectly suitable to embroidered text, rhinestone lettering, engraving processes, and heat transfer applications.

It is expected to be released June 8th should it pass testing — which is in progress now. We will update all users once it gets released!
Is there a way to charge for the personalization option?
Yes and no. Yes, you should / could charge by factoring the personalization options available into the fixed price for the product. No, it isn’t possible at this time to add pricing at this level. Why? The use case was for selling pre-decorated goods that REQUIRE collection of personalization information. Think: Bowling league. Standard patch or embroidery on left chest with each bowlers name embroidered under the patch.
We may revisit pricing at this level in the future.

The functionality is a great addition – and tests out nicely. 80% of our business is monogramming. Would you consider adding a max of 3 fields instead of 2? Yes, we can ask the customer for their monogram in 1 line – but this typically leads to customers providing the information incorrectly. Having a 3rd field would give us, and a lot of other decorators, a great deal more success with monogram fields.
As mentioned above – being able to charge for the additional personalization would be a value add!
